Can you read the Signs of the Times?

The words that Jesus Christ spoke nearly two thousand years ago predict todays news headlines.

Matthew 24:4-14 (New King James Version)

4 And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. 6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
9 “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. 10 And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. 11 Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. 12 And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But he who endures to the end shall be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.

So today we are witnesses to

many false teachers (see verse 4 and 5),
wars and rumors of wars (see verse 6)
nation will rise against nation (see verse 7)
famines, pestilences, and earthquakes (see verse 7)
hated by all nations (see verse 9)
false prophets (see verse 11)
lawlessness (see verse 12)

When I see these things come to pass in the world today I am saddened but not surprised.

What are these dreaded Drop Bears of Australia?

While searching the net for a picture of this elusive creature I found one at Beyond the Fringe.

Be afraid, be very afraid …. this fearsome furry denizen feasts upon unwary visitors to Australia.

Question: I have a question about a famous animal in Australia, but I forget its name. It’s a kind of bear and lives in trees. (USA)
Answer: It’s called a Drop Bear. They are so called because they drop out of Gum trees and eat the brains of anyone walking underneath them. You can scare them off by spraying yourself with human urine before you go out walking.

(supposedly posted on an Australian Tourism website.)

Note: Stories of drop bears are often told to unsuspecting foreign visitors to illustrate Australian deadpan humor.
